The Alhambra City Council is elected by Alhambra citizens to guide the policy affairs of the community, and are elected at large for a four-year term from five geographic districts. Municipal elections are held in November every two (even-numbered) years, under a rotational system adopted in 1984. Each Council Member serves as mayor for a nine-month period. The City Council appoints the City Manager, City Attorney and City Commission Members. 

CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS:

Regular City Council meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of the month in the City Council Chambers. There is generally a short recess, followed by the continuation of the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Persons and groups interested in addressing the City Council on a scheduled agenda item must complete a Speaker's Card located on the table just outside the Chamber Room. Please identify your name and address on the card, and the item you would like to address.

Available online and in the City Clerk’s office; also posted to the City Hall lobby window 72 hours prior to regular meetings.

WEBCASTS/RE-BROADCASTS OF CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS:

Cable rebroadcasts (Charter Channel 3) are aired at 7:30 p.m. on "off-Mondays" and Thursdays after the "live" council meeting. The Alhambra Civic Center Library, 101 S. First St., also offers DVDs in the educational video section (under Dewey Number 352) that can be checked out for a period of one week. DVDs may also be viewed in the City Clerk's Office during weekdays 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Copies may be purchased from the City Clerk for $10. Please call 626-570-5090 in advance if possible.
